Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics
announces

the Third  Winter School on

DUALITY IN FIELDS AND STRINGS 

25 January-5 February 1999

The School is to promote the knowledge 
on dualities in field theories and  string/M-theory,
and to widen the opportunity to communicate
between scholars through lectures and seminars. 

The school runs for two weeks.
The first half of the period is  chiefly devoted to  
the monopoles and solitons 
and the second part on string/M-theories and branes.
(Some lectures are to be held ahead of the winter school.

The school is to be held at in Cheju Island,
which lies in the southernmost part in  Korea
and has a  beautiful landscape.  One may enjoy hiking and fishing.

to attend the School.
(November 25, 1998 for those who need 
special Entry Permit Visa or finanancial support.)
To present a seminar  (15-40 minutes), 
one may add the title and abstract in the Registration Form.

Registration Fee:

The Registration Fee is 250,000 Won (US$200)
to be paid in Won or in  US Dolloar.
A reduced rate (100,000 Won or US $100) 
may apply to students.
The reduced rate is also  applicable to Post-Docs upon request.
Limited number of financial support are available for 
participants from member countries. 

The Regisration Fee will cover the School 
Fee, Room (double occupancy) and partial Boarding. 
For single room, extra 30,000 Won per day will be charged.

Transportation:

One may use Cheju International Airport from abroad
or use connection flights from Seoul to Cheju.
There will be a shuttle bus from Cheju Airport to the 
Winter School Site.

Discounted domestic air fare is 
applicable for a round trip between Seoul and  Cheju 
for the School participants and families.

Weather:

During February, the average temperature of Cheju Island 
is about 5C (41F). The Halla mountain, which is located 
at the central part of the island, is covered with snow. 
The participants are recommended to bring 
their warm clothings and shoes just in case. 


Currency and Credit Card : 

The unit of Korean currency is Won. 
Major foreign currencies, traveler's checks, and 
major credit cards are accepted
at most hotels, banks, and the airport. 
Current exchange rate is approximately 1350 Won per US $1.

Passport and Visa :

Visitors with the passport and the return ticket, 
can stay in Korea up to 15 days without visa
(with exception of a few countries). 
It is advised to consult the nearest Korean Consulate for details.
