                                                 [Call for Applications]

Tamura International School on Neutrino Physics
                               - Announcement -

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are organizing the `Tamura International School on Neutrino Physics'
to be held;

                   from November 23 to 25, 2001
at the Seminar House of Tokyo University of Science

The school is organized under co-operation between The University of Texas
at Austin and Tokyo University of Science. The school will start just
after the 5-th KEK Topical Conference (from November 20 to 22, 2001, at KEK;
http://kektc5.kek.jp) to give the opportunity to those who are interested in
the conference, too.

Detailed information can be found at
          http://www.rs.noda.sut.ac.jp/~tis2001/ .

A three-day program will consist of lectures by senior scientists as well as
active physicists at the frontier of research. Lectures will be organized
with the emphases on currently on-going active neutrino experiments and
observations.

A preliminary plan for the program is :
  Opening Lectures
Neutrino in Particle Physics R. Schwitters (U. Texas)
Birth of Neutrino Astronomy M. Koshiba (U. Tokyo)
  Theoretical Lectures
Neutrino Mass and Cosmology H. Murayama* (LBL)
     Phenomenological Theory O. Yasuda (TMU)
  Experimental Lectures
Experimental Principle and Methods T. Kondo (KEK),Y. Suzuk (ICRR)

  Topical Subjects
     Supernova Neutrino H. Suzuki (SUT)
     Solar Neutrino M. Nakahata (ICRR)
Long Base-line Experiments M. Sakuda (KEK)
Short Base-line Experiments K. Niwa (Nagoya)
  Future Prospect Y. Totsuka (ICRR)
                                             (* to be confirmed)
All talks are given in English

Participation to the school is by invitation only. Number of participants
will be limited to less than 60. Should the number of applicants become
more than 60, participants would have to be selected by advisors and
organizers. We expect applications by young active physicists and graduate
students, who are engaging or interested in neutrino research.
Special effort will be made to encourage participation of young Asian
physicists. Dormitory-style accommodations are provided in the seminar
house. Registration fee of 10,000 yen will cover living expenses for the
three-day stay in the dormitory. For a limited number of Asian physicists,
financial support to cover their air fare will be granted after selection of
applicants by organizers.
