    The International Symposium on "Color Confinement and Hadrons in Quantum 
Chromodynamics" will be held at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research 
(RIKEN) with the host of Interactive Research Center of Science (IRCS), 
Tokyo Institute of Technology, from July 21 (Mon.) to July 24 (Thu.), 2003, 
just after Lattice 2003 (July 12-19, Tsukuba Univ.).

    The aim of the Symposium is to discuss recent theoretical and experimental 
developments in nonperturbative QCD and in the hadron physics. 
In particular, in front of the interesting experimental data at the RHIC 
project in Brookhaven National Laboratory, we think that the mutual 
understanding is necessary and very important among the related 
several fields such as the lattice QCD physics, the hadron physics and the 
quark-gluon-plasma (QGP) physics.

1. About the Symposium:
 
    Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) has been established as the fundamental 
theory of the strong interaction since 1974. Nevertheless, there 
remain lots of interesting problems relating to nonperturbative dynamics 
in the infrared region of QCD such as color confinement, dynamical 
chiral-symmetry breaking and topologies. To understand the nonperturbative 
physics in QCD, effective models and mathematical approaches have been 
studied. In particular, the lattice QCD Monte Carlo simulations have 
been progressed as a useful method for the analysis of nonperturbative QCD.

    The purpose of the present Symposium is the mutual understanding of 
the current studies of nonperturbative QCD among the lattice QCD physics, 
the hadron physics and the QGP physics. This Symposium is the successor of the 
International Workshop on "Color Confinement and Hadrons" (Confinement'95) 
and "Quantum Chromodynamics and Color Confinement" (Confinement 2000) held 
in Osaka. 


2. Basic plan of the Symposium:

Date :    July 21 (Mon.) - July 24 (Thu.), 2003
Place:    Okochi Memorial Hall, 
          The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN)
          Hirosaka 2-1, Wako, Saitama, Japan
          (Wako is close to Tokyo.)
Expected Size:  about 120 participants 

   There will be plenary sessions for invited speakers and parallel 
sessions for the selected contributed paper. In this symposium, there is 
no specific session for the poster contributions, however, the poster 
boards will be used for the communication of participants on the physics 
during the symposium period.

   QCD Phase Transition at finite temperature and density
   Quark Gluon Plasma at the RHIC experiment
   Quark Confinement Mechanism 
   Dynamical Chiral-Symmetry Breaking
   Topologies in QCD (Instantons, Monopoles and Vortices)
   Nonperturbative Analysis (1/Nc, ladder QCD, AdS/CFT)

cover participation in the conference, a copy of the Proceedings, 
and social events such as a short banquet. 
   The discount fee of 10,000 yen (about USD 100) applies to the students 
and Post Doc. The payment is made only by cash.

1. The Aim of the Symposium
 
   Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) has been established as the fundamental 
theory of the strong interaction since 1974. Nevertheless, there 
remain lots of interesting problems relating to nonperturbative dynamics 
in the infrared region of QCD such as color confinement, dynamical 
chiral-symmetry breaking and topologies. To understand the nonperturbative 
physics in QCD, effective models and mathematical approaches have been 
studied. Recently, the lattice QCD Monte Carlo simulation has been 
progressed as a useful method for the analysis of nonperturbative QCD.

   The purpose of the present Symposium is the mutual understanding of 
the current studies of nonperturbative QCD among the mathematical physics, 
the lattice QCD physics and the hadron physics, as a necessary step for 
the global understanding of nonperturbative QCD. 

   This Symposium is the successor of the International Symposium on 
``Color Confinement and Hadrons" (Confinement '95) and 
``Quantum Chromodynamics and Color Confinement" (Confinement 2000) 
held in Osaka.

   Proceedings will include all invited papers and oral contributions 
in the Symposium. The expected page volume of the Proceeding is 470-500 pages.
Proceedings will be published by World Scientific Publishing Co.

   The registration fee is 15,000 yen (about US$ 140), which will cover 
participation in the symposium, a copy of the Proceedings, and social events

   For each accompanying person, the fee for the excursion and the banquet is

素粒子論グループの皆さま、

　本年７月２１日（月）−２４日（木）に、理化学研究所において開催される

　　　国際会議「量子色力学におけるカラーの閉じ込めとハドロン」

の contributed paper の締切りが５月２０日（火）と迫ってきたので、
再度アナウンス致します。また、屋形船バンケットの参加申し込みの
締め切りも、５月３０日（金）と迫っています。

　当国際会議では、カラーの閉じ込めにテーマを限らず、超対称ＱＣＤ、
新たな非摂動的計算法、ハドロン構造のＱＣＤからの理解、有限密度ＱＣＤ、
クォーク・グルーオン・プラズマ物理 等の、ＱＣＤに関連した幅広い物理現象
を対象に、解析的方法と格子ＱＣＤ計算という複合的な視点から、その本質に
迫っていきたいと考えています。

　また、博士課程の大学院生以上の研究者にとっては、School としても
有効でしょう。（ポスターセッションもあります。）

素粒子論グループの皆さま、

　本年７月２１日（月）−２４日（木）に、理化学研究所において開催される

　　　国際会議「量子色力学におけるカラーの閉じ込めとハドロン」

の Final Circular を添付してお送りします。
また、その概略をメールの後半に書き添えました。

　当国際会議では、カラーの閉じ込めにテーマを限らず、超対称ＱＣＤ、
新たな非摂動的計算法、ハドロン構造のＱＣＤからの理解、有限密度ＱＣＤ、
クォーク・グルーオン・プラズマ物理 等の、ＱＣＤに関連した幅広い物理現象
を対象に、解析的方法と格子ＱＣＤ計算という複合的な視点から、その本質に
迫っていきたいと考えています。

　また、博士課程の大学院生以上の研究者にとっては、School としても
有効だと思います。

　参加希望者には、是非とも、事前に参加登録をお願いしたいと思います。

素粒子論グループの皆さま、

　本年７月２１日−２４日に、理化学研究所において開催された
国際会議「量子色力学におけるカラーの閉じ込めとハドロン」
(Confinement2003) は、国内外から１３１人もの研究者に参加して頂き、
２８の招待講演、２０の講演、４０近いポスター発表 等を通じて、
活発な研究交流が為されました。謹んで御報告させて頂きます。

　また、Confinement2003 の発表者の方々のトランスペアレンシーの
一部を、国際会議の Web Page に掲載させて頂きました。

　尚、当国際会議では、カラーの閉じ込めにテーマを限らず、超対称ＱＣＤ、
新たな非摂動的計算法、ハドロン構造のＱＣＤからの理解、有限密度ＱＣＤ、
クォーク・グルーオン・プラズマ物理 等の、ＱＣＤに関連した幅広い物理現象
を対象に、解析的方法と格子ＱＣＤ計算という複合的な視点から、その本質に
迫るべく、様々な議論が為されました。

　会議を企画するに当たって、皆さんから、多くの有益なアドバイスを頂きました。
改めて御礼申し上げます。
