"KAON" is a series of conferences for the physics of kaon decay and related topics and is held every few years. The last conference, KAON07, was held at Frascati in May 2007. KAON09 is organized in plenary sessions, including invited talks and a selection of submitted contributions, and a poster session for contributed papers. The conference covers the following topics. - CP and T violation - CKM matrix and Flavor Mixing - Rare decays - precise SM tests - CPT and Quantum Mechanics - Lepton universality and flavor violation - Lattice gauge theory - Chiral perturbation theory - Physics beyond the Standard Model - Future opportunities in Kaon Physics In addition to the scientific sessions, we are planning to reserve the afternoon of Thursday, June 11 for the bus tour to the J-PARC site and the evening for the banquet. We hope that the conference will further stimulate worldwide activities in particle and nuclear physics and develop new frontiers in these fields. Contributed Papers ------------------ Those who wish to contribute a paper should submit the title and the abstract to the Local Organizing Committee, through the Abstract Submission form http://www-conf.kek.jp/kaon09/regist/abst_form.php in our Web page http://kaon09.kek.jp/ , by May 11, 2009. The papers presented in the plenary sessions and the poster session will be informed by E-mail later. Proceedings ----------- The proceedings of the conference will be online-published on POS (Proceedings of Science). This is an OPEN ACCESS Collection of Proceedings and Lecture Notes, which is available on http://pos.sissa.it/ . We will post the details for paper submission as soon as the author's access to the KAON09 area will be activated. Registration, Accommodation, and Registration Fee ------------------------------------------------- Please fill out the Registration form http://www-conf.kek.jp/kaon09/regist/regist_form.php in our Web page http://kaon09.kek.jp/ by May 31, 2009. Accommodation (hotel reservation) is also available from http://kaon09.kek.jp/accommodation.html . Please make reservation of the hotel rooms by May 11(Mon). The registration fee for a participant in the conference is 20,000 yen. This fee should be paid, in Japanese Yen, at the registration desk upon your arrival. Please note that credit cards, traveler's cheques and so on cannot be accepted. The fee includes continental breakfast every day and a banquet ticket; an additional ticket for an accompanying person is available upon request at the registration desk. For students, the registration fee is discounted to 15,000 yen. J-PARC tour on June 11 (Thu) ---------------------------- For the participants in the conference, we are going to arrange a half-day bus tour to the J-PARC site http://kaon09.kek.jp/intro_to_J-PARC.html in the afternoon on June 11. The tour is free of charge; the bus will return to Tsukuba before the banquet in the night. If you would like to join the tour, please apply for it in the Registration form and submit the Registration form earlier, by May 25, 2009. Visa Information ---------------- You can check http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html to know how to get visa to visit Japan. Those participants from countries requiring a visa should apply to the Japanese consulate in advance of your departure. If you need any official letters or other help to obtain a visa, please let us know, AFTER YOU COMPLETE your registration, as soon as possible.
