Workshop on “Progress in Nuclear and Hadron Physics and Accelerator
Related Sciences”

Tsukuba International Congress Center (EPOCHAL Tsukuba), 16th July 2014

Exciting scientific results are coming out from each J-PARC facility.
These fruitful outcomes are built on the history of the accelerator
related sciences for several decades.  This workshop will be held as a
satellite workshop of the 2nd J-PARC Symposium (J-PARC2014) to look
back on the progress and discuss the future outlook of the nuclear and
hadron physics, especially related to the proton and heavy ion
accelerators.

After the workshop, a get-together party will be held in honor of
Professor Shoji Nagamiya, the former director of the J-PARC Center.

研究会「原子核ハドロン物理と加速器科学の進展」

つくば国際会議場 平成26年7月16日

J-PARCの各施設から本格的な科学的成果が出つつあります。
これらの成果は、数十年にわたり発展してきた加速器科学の礎のうえに築かれています。
本研究会は、
7月12日〜15日に開催される第2回J-PARCシンポジウム(J-PARC2014)のサテライトワークショップとして、
特に陽子加速器および重イオン加速器においてなされた研究成果に焦点を当て、
これまでの歴史を振り返り、今後の展望を議論します。

なお、本研究会のあとには、前J-PARCセンター長 永宮正治氏を囲む懇親会を行います。

Get-together Party in Honor of Professor Shoji Nagamiya
Okura Frontier Hotel Tsukuba, 16th July 2014

Professor Shoji Nagamiya stepped down from the position of the
Director of the J-PARC Center in the year of 2012.  He started his
research carrier with a study of the magnetic moment of nucleons
inside a nucleus using a cyclotron at RIKEN.  After a pioneering work
on muon spin rotation and on high-energy heavy ion collisions at the
Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, he led experiments on relativistic heavy
ion collisions at the Brookhaven National Laboratory.  He then came
back to Japan to found a new high-intensity accelerator facility known
as J-PARC today, which covers broad scientific fields.  These examples
show he has been in the forefront of science for more than 40 years.
To celebrate his remarkable contribution to the broad scientific
fields, we will hold a get-together party.

さて、前J-PARCセンター長永宮正治氏におかれましては、2012年にJ-PARCセンター長の職を退かれました。
氏は、理化学研究所のサイクロトンにおける核内核子の磁気能率の研究から、
ローレンスバークレー研究所におけるいずれも草創期のμSRや高エネルギー重イオン衝突の研究、
ブルックヘブン国立研究所における相対論的重イオン衝突の研究、
そしてJ-PARCでの大強度陽子ビームを用いた多彩な研究と、40有余年にわたって
原子核ハドロン物理および加速器科学の広範な分野の最先端において活躍してこられました。
氏の長年の功績を讃えるべく、表記の懇親会を開催いたします。

本研究会は、
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratoryにおける重イオン衝突実験の黎明期、
Brookhaven National Laboratoryを中心とした高エネルギー重イオン衝突実験の発展期、
そしてJ-PARCでの陽子加速器の建設とハドロン実験の進展を振り返り、
原子核ハドロン物理および加速器科学の将来を展望します。

上記およびそれに関連する分野において重要な役割を果たしてきた方々を

This workshop will be held to discuss the history and future outlook
of the nuclear and hadron physics.
Especially we will focus on the dawn of the heavy ion
collision experiments at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory,
its development centering around the Brookhaven National Laboratory,
the construction of the proton accelerator
and the progress of the nuclear and hadron physics at J-PARC.

We have invited the people who have played principal roles
in the above and related scientific areas.
