Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the workshop “Strings and Fields 2021” at
Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics in Kyoto University, from
August 23 to August 27, 2021 (9am - 6pm JST).

There have been annual workshops in Kyoto on string theory and quantum
field theory for more than 20 years. Last year, we had to shift it to
online due to covid-19, where more than 4 hundred people registered and
there were 6 long talks including review by invited speakers and more
than 100 short talks as well as poster talks.

The workshop this year will be in a hybrid format. The talks will be
mainly on Zoom, but researchers who are permanent residents of Japan, or
who are non-residents but can enter Japan without any additional
supporting documentation from Yukawa Institute, and follow the
quarantine rules set by the Japanese government (see webpage for
detail), can gather physically at the Panasonic Hall in the Yukawa
Institute, if they so prefer. (Due to the reduced occupancy limit of the
hall, those who wish to do so should indicate it from the registration
page, and we might ask you to refrain from coming. )

This year we will invite 7 speakers
Simon Caron-Huot (McGill)
Teppei Kitahara (Nagoya)
Sven Krippendorf (LMU München)
Alexander Maloney (McGill)
Kantaro Ohmori (Tokyo)
João Penedones (EPF Lausanne)
Leonard Susskind (Stanford)
for long talks.

All the talks including short/poster talks will be in English. We plan
to have a few parallel sessions for short talks if we receive a large
amount of applicants.

The registration for the workshop is open at the web site:
http://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~qft.web/2021/
The deadline of the registration for presentation is July 1st (Thu). The
deadline of the registration for those who do not give a talk is August
9th (Mon).

We note that the first day, August 23, is a pure online day for the
virtual poster session. Those who intend to physically attend the
workshop should specify the dates during August 24 to 27 in the
registration.

We look forward to meeting you.

Yours sincerely,
Kazunobu Maruyoshi
