We are pleased to announce the "International Workshop on the Extension
Project for the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility (J-PARC HEF-ex WS)",
from July 7 (Wed) to 9 (Fri), 2021 organized by Hadron Hall User
Association (HUA), which is supported by J-PARC Center, RCNP, and RIKEN
Nishina Center. The workshop is devoted to discussion on the physics
case at the extended Hadron Experimental Facility of the Japan Proton
Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC).

We have been discussing a new plan for J-PARC Hadron Experimental
Facility to extend the existing experimental facility. The idea is to
extend the Hadron Hall to place another production target downstream of
the current production target and build multiple new beamlines. In the
project, construction of four new beamlines is planned with the highest
priority:
* 'high-intensity and high-energy-resolution beamline (HIHR)' and
  'high-purity and high-intensity low-momentum charged K beamline (K1.1)'
   to solve the so-called "hyperon puzzle", through super-precision
   spectroscopy of Lambda-hypernuclei and precise hyperon-nucleon
   scattering measurement respectively,
* 'high-intensity neutral KL beamline (new-KL)' to explore new physics
   beyond the Standard Model by dramatically increasing the sensitivities
   of the kaon rare decay, and
* 'high-momentum particle-separated beamline (K10)' to unravel the
   mystery of the strong interaction through the investigation of Omega
   baryons.
There we will develop new physics in particle and nuclear physics that
cannot be implemented at the existing facilities. So far, we published
two white papers on the project that can be found as

These manuscripts will be revised and updated as the 3rd white paper soon.

The extension project of the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility is one
of the most important large-scale projects in the particle and nuclear
physics communities in Japan. The project has been selected as the MEXT
Roadmap 2020 (Formulation of a Basic Concept Roadmap for Promotion of
Large Scientific Research Projects). Discussions on project
prioritization are ongoing in KEK, the promotion body of the project.
Aiming at early realization of the extension project, we have held a
series of workshops focused on each physics case at the HIHR/K1.1 and
K10 beamlines in May-June 2021:

This workshop summarizes these workshops to further deepen discussions
on important physics features at the extended J-PARC Hadron Experimental
Facility. We would appreciate it if you join the discussions and give us
any advice on the physics case.

We are pleased to announce the "Second International Workshop on the
Extension Project for the J-PARC Hadron Experimental Facility (2nd
J-PARC HEF-ex WS)". The workshop will be held online on February 16 -18,
2022. It is organized by Hadron Hall User Association (HUA), and
supported by J-PARC Center, KEK Theory Center, RCNP, and RIKEN Nishina
Center.

This workshop is part of the series of workshops to discuss and deepen
physics case at Hadron Experimental Facility. In the first half of 2021,
the workshops were held focused on future physics case at the extended
Hadron Experimental Facility, whose outputs were summarized as the third
white paper of arXiv:2110.04462. The extension project was reviewed by
an international committee formed under J-PARC PAC in August 2021, and
was highly evaluated toward early realization of the facility extension.

In this workshop, discussions will be devoted to the physics case
connecting both of the "present" and the "future" Hadron Experimental
Facility of the J-PARC. For that purpose, this workshop will cover wide-
ranging topics related to both experimental and theoretical activities
being conducted at the Hadron Experimental Facility as follows:

- S=-1 and -2 hypernuclei
- meson in nuclei
- baryon spectroscopy
- kaon rare decays
- mu-e conversion
- future facilities and instrumentation

# Scientific Program
The scientific program comprises plenary sessions by invited speakers
and parallel sessions by invited and contributed speakers.

# Venue
The conference is held online via ZOOM. On the day of the workshop, we
prepare presentation and discussion rooms in KEK Tokai Building #1,
Tokai, Japan. If you are able to come to the site, please come to J-PARC
site.

Registration fee is free for all the participants.
