In this talk I introduce a lattice spin model called the rank-2 toric code (R2TC) whose anyonic excitations possess such dipole symmetry and discuss various properties of it. A related model of two-dimensional SPT we call the dipolar cluster state (dCS) is also proposed, and the connection between the two models through mid-circuit measurement is revealed. In the second part of the talk, I introduce several one-dimensional SPT models protected by dipole and higher multipole symmetries. In recent work, we were able to identify certain non-invertible symmetry operations associated with each of these modulated SPT models. ===================================
