2026年10月12日（月）から11月13日（金）まで、京都大学基礎物理学研究所において、
5週間の国際滞在型研究会 “New Frontiers in QCD 2026” を開催いたします。

本研究会は、QCD に関する理論・実験・観測・計算の最近の進展を持ち寄り、
横断的な議論を通して今後の研究の方向性を探ることを目的としています。
中性子星や連星合体の観測、重イオン衝突実験、将来の Electron–Ion Collider (EIC) が
もたらす新たな展望に加え、有限密度・非平衡 QCD における符号問題への新しいアプローチ、
一般化対称性、格子計算、テンソルネットワーク、量子計算など、幅広い話題を扱います。

この研究会は、2006年、2008年、2010年、2013年、2018年に開催された
“New Frontiers in QCD” シリーズを継承するものです。
比較的ゆったりとした日程のもと、基研に滞在しながら集中的に議論を行い、
共同研究の芽を育てる場となることを目指しています。2週間以上の滞在を特に歓迎します。

研究会では、各週ごとに以下のテーマを予定しています。

第1週（10月12日–16日）：High-energy QCD
第2週（10月19日–23日）：QCD Matter under Extreme Conditions
第3週（10月26日–30日）：YKIS
第4週（11月2日–6日）：Dense QCD Matter and Compact Stars
第5週（11月9日–13日）：Theoretical Developments in QCD and Related Topics

特に第3週には、
YKIS “Recent Developments in QCD: From Confinement to Compact Stars”
が開催されます。

一般講演も募集しています。7月中旬頃から選考を開始する予定ですので、
講演を希望される方はお早めにご登録ください。なお、講演は原則として対面のみを予定しています。

この秋、QCD の新しいフロンティアを議論する場として、

Announcement: Long-term Workshop “New Frontiers in QCD 2026”

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the five-week international long-term workshop “New Frontiers in QCD 2026” will be held at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University, from October 12 (Mon) to November 13 (Fri), 2026.

This workshop aims to explore future directions in QCD through discussions on recent developments in theory, experiment, observation, and computation. The scientific program will cover a broad range of topics, including observations of neutron stars and binary mergers, heavy-ion collision experiments, new opportunities opened up by the future Electron–Ion Collider (EIC), novel approaches to the sign problem in finite-density and nonequilibrium QCD, generalized symmetries, lattice QCD, tensor network methods, and quantum computing.

This workshop continues the “New Frontiers in QCD” series previously held in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2018. With a relatively relaxed schedule, we hope to provide an environment in which participants can stay at YITP, engage in intensive discussions, and foster new collaborations. We particularly encourage longer stays.

The workshop will be organized around the following weekly themes:

Week 1 (October 12–16): High-energy QCD
Week 2 (October 19–23): QCD Matter under Extreme Conditions
Week 3 (October 26–30): YKIS
Week 4 (November 2–6): Dense QCD Matter and Compact Stars
Week 5 (November 9–13): Theoretical Developments in QCD and Related Topics

In particular, during Week 3, the following symposium will be held:

Please note that prior registration on the YITP Indico server is required. Approval may take one business day, so we kindly ask you to register in advance.

The registration deadlines are as follows:

Onsite participants requesting visa support and/or financial support: July 15, 2026
Onsite participants without support: August 15, 2026
Online participants: November 13, 2026

Please note that the number of participants may be limited due to venue capacity and workspace constraints. We therefore encourage early registration.

We are also accepting contributed talks. The selection process will begin around mid-July, so those who wish to give a presentation are encouraged to register early. Please note that, in principle, presentations will be in person only.

We would be delighted to welcome many of you to Kyoto this autumn for discussions on new frontiers in QCD.
