Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the KEK Theory Workshop 2026 (KEK-TH 2026),
which will be held at KEK Tsukuba Campus on November 25(Wed.) - 27(Fri.).
The KEK Theory Workshop is an annual workshop on string theory and
quantum field theory. Since 2014, the KEK Theory Workshop has been held
as an international workshop in which all talks are given in English.

This year we aim to provide a valuable opportunity to have extensive
discussions on new developments in string theory, matrix models, the
gauge-gravity duality, blackhole microstates, lattice construction of
chiral gauge theories, and open quantum systems. The invited speakers
are selected from various research fields, and we have asked them to
give a pedagogical exposition of the big picture in their own research
field with the right amount of technical details, which are useful in
building up a comprehensive understanding of the notions and their
mutual relationship.

List of the invited speakers and tentative titles:

- Hirotaka Hayashi (Tokai University) "6d/5d gauge theories from web
diagrams"

- Hikaru Kawai (Osaka Metropolitan University) "Emergence of space-time
and matter from matrix model"

- Takato Mori (Rikkyo University) "Information theoretic approaches to
closed universe"

- Masaya Nakagawa (The University of Tokyo) "Open quantum systems: From
many-body physics to feedback control"

- Masaki Shigemori (Nagoya University) "Microstates of black holes and
of whatnot"

- Tadashi Takayanagi (YITP, Kyoto University) "Extending holography to
non-Hermitian systems"

- Norihiro Tanahashi (Kyoto University) "Optimal transport, holography
and chaos"

- Tatsuya Yamaoka (The University of Osaka) "Advances in Hamiltonian
lattice theory for realizing chiral gauge theories"

Registration for the workshop will soon be open at the Indico website.

We will also have short talk sessions on more diverse topics, for which
participants can apply.
(If there are too many applicants for short talks, we will have to make
some selections.)

The workshop will be on-site ONLY at KEK Tsukuba Campus. In order to
benefit the most from the workshop, we strongly encourage every
participant to attend the workshop for all three days. The closing time
on the final day will be around noon.

We have a limited budget which will be used to support the domestic (in
Japan) travel expenses primarily for young participants. ***Unlike the
previous years, however, we can only support those who are going to give
a talk in the workshop, due to the change of KEK policies.*** (In case
there are too many applicants for the support, we may have to make some
selections.)

弦理論と場の理論に関するKEK理論研究会(KEK Theory Workshop)を2026年11月25
日(水)から11月27日(金)の３日間、KEKつくばキャンパスにて開催いたします。
講演はすべて英語で行われます。

今年は、ストリング理論、行列模型、ゲージ・重力対応、ブラックホールの微視
的状態、格子カイラルゲージ理論、量子開放系における新展開について、分野の
垣根を越えた実りある議論の場を創出したいと考えております。幅広い分野から
招待講演者を招くと共に、知見や議論がうまく共鳴する様にプログラムを工夫し
ました。招待講演者の皆様には、ご自身の専門分野に立脚しつつ、教育的なビッ
クピクチャーと興味深い専門的知識をうまく配合したご講演をお願い致しました。
個々の概念とそれらの間の関連性に対して包括的な理解を築く上で、参加される
全ての皆様にとって有意義な研究会になるものと期待しております。

(発表申し込みが多すぎる場合、やむを得ずselectionを行う可能性があります。)

本研究会はKEKつくばキャンパスにおける現地開催のみ(ネット配信・録画なし)
です。研究会からできる限りの実りを享受するために、全日参加を推奨します。
最終日は昼頃までとし、余分な宿泊を回避できるよう配慮します。

また予算は限られておりますが、若い参加者を中心に日本国内の旅費の補助をい
たします。
***KEKの方針の変更に伴い、例年と異なり、研究会においてトークをしてくださ
った方のみ対象となります。***

承ください。)

Dear Colleagues,

The registration for the KEK Theory Workshop 2026 (KEK-TH2026),
which has been announced at [Sg-l:10405], is now open.

Please visit the workshop web page:

The deadline for registration will be October 16.
There is no registration fee.
Please indicate your requests for:
financial support, VISA, banquet participation,
and oral presentations(both invited speakers and short-talk applicants),
in the registration form.
We have a limited budget which will be used to support the domestic
travel expenses primarily for young participants.
Unlike the previous years, we can only support those who are going to
give a talk.
Please be careful for the registration deadline date.
This is particularly important for applicants for the financial support.

Note that hotel availability in Tsukuba is expected to be limited during
the workshop period,
particularly because it coincides with the University of Tsukuba 
entrance
examination this year.
We recommend arranging your accommodation as early as possible.
For hotel information, please see the Accommodation section of the web
page.

If you want one or both of the followings,
you need yet another registration, KEK User Registration:
(1) to stay at KEK Dormitory,
(2) to apply for financial support to domestic travel expenses.
Please follow instructions in the workshop web page.

Note for (1):
- Booking KEK Dormitory will become possible from 45 days before your
stay, approximately Oct.10. Once that date has come, we recommend you to
reserve promptly since many visitors plan to use the dormitory.
- In case you could not find available rooms but wish to stay in KEK
dormitory,
please contact our secretary (yukoohno[at]post.kek.jp, [at] ---> __AT__):
we have reserved 20 rooms (with bath / toilet shared).

Note for (2):
- Due to the change of KEK policies, we can support the accommodation
fee only for those who are staying in KEK Dormitory. 
If you stay in a hotel, we can only support the travel expenses.


The workshop will be ON-SITE at KEK Tsukuba Campus without on-line
attendance. We are looking forward to your participation.

旅費補助、懇親会への参加、口頭発表(short-talkに加え、招待講演の方も)の申
し込みについて、該当項目を選択、或いは必要事項を記入して頂きたく存じます。
若手参加者を主な対象として、日本国内の旅費を支援するための限られた予算を
用意しています。
昨年度までと異なり、旅費補助を希望する方は口頭発表を行うことが求められま
す。
登録締め切り日にご配慮頂ければ幸いです。特に旅費補助を申し込む方はご注意
ください。

研究会期間中は筑波大学の推薦入試と日程が重なるため、つくば市内のホテルの
空室が少なくなることが予想されます。
宿泊先はお早めにご予約ください。ホテル情報については、web pageの
Accommodationセクションをご覧ください。

以下をご希望の方は、研究会の参加登録に加え、"KEKユーザ登録"も必要です:
(1) KEK Dormitoryへの宿泊を希望、

(1)補足:
- KEK DormitoryはKEK滞在日初日の45日前、すなわち10月10日前後から可能とな
ります。様々な訪問者が滞在予定のため、期日が来たら速やかに予約することを
推奨します。
- もしも空き部屋が見つからない場合でも、秘書にご連絡ください(yukoohno[at]
post.kek.jp, [at] ---> __AT__)。バス/トイレ共用ですが、20部屋押さえております。

(2)補足:
- KEKの旅費規定の変更に伴い、今年度から宿泊費の補助は、KEK宿舎にご宿泊の
場合にのみに限られることになりました。ホテルにご宿泊の場合は、交通費のみ
の補助になりますことを予めご了承ください。

今年はKEKつくばキャンパスにて、"オンサイトのみ"の開催を予定しております。
